Sir, Subject – Service Delivery Excellence Model (SEVOTTAM) – Citizen Charter - reg.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has been identified as one of the 10 organizations to implement the SEVOTTAM Scheme prepared by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). As a part of implementation of SEVOTTAM, the existing Citizen Charter has been re-visited and a few modifications and restructuring on this Citizen Charter have been carried out, in line with the SEVOTTAM standards stipulated in IS - 15700. A copy of the revised Citizen charter is enclosed.
In this connection, the Board has observed that the revised Citizen Charter has incorporated certain new commitments which are to be implemented by the field formations and therefore, views of field formations may be obtained before the revised Citizen Charter is taken up for final approval. Please note that we would not be able to dilute the standards laid down in the earlier Citizen charter.
It is, therefore, requested that you may obtain comments / suggestions from the Commissioners under your charge and forward the same along with your views to this office. A copy of the revised Citizen Charter is being forwarded to all field formations by EDECS. The said revised Citizen Charter is also being placed on the departmental website www.cbec.gov.in under the link "Draft circulars for comments".
It is requested that the requisite views / comments / suggestions may please be forwarded to this office either by E-mail, on Sevottam.cbec@gmail.com, or by FAX ( fax no. 2337 0351 / 2337 0924, followed by copy by post, positively by 13-05-2008. Yours faithfully,
